Essential Oils For Dry Flaky Scalp:
Rosemary And Tea Tree Oil
As you can see, I’m rocking a natural style- locs. I’m very careful about what I put in my hair because locs don’t need much at all. They create their own oils. However, there are times when my scalp gets dry and flaky, especially since I workout on a regular basis. The sweat from the exercise, mixed with my natural oils, often clogs my pores and creates dandruff.
I was getting a little fed up with some other things I tried, including special shampoo so I decided to try some oils that are well-known for being great for hair: Rosemary essential oil and Tea Tree essential oil AKA Malaleuca alternifolia.
What I did was add just one drop of each oil to a natural grease I already use. A couple of drops is all you need of each. You can use your own carrier base such as Jojoba oil or coconut oil. Those are both great moisturizers for natural hair.
Rub your hands together and massage into scalp paying close attention to your worst areas. After trying it for about a week I noticed that it works wonderful! I do this about 2x a week now. Be sure to wash your hair or rinse your scalp with hot water after heavy sweating first or you’ll clog your pores even more by adding product on top. For itchy problems, add a drop of peppermint oil as well. It has a great soothing effect.
Would you like to see my beautiful scalp?
Melaleuca alternifolia (tea trea oil) is antibacterial and Rosemary fights candida. No wonder they work so well together.
